Terrell Davis says former players are ‘all scared’ of CTE

When Terrell Davis earned MVP honors in Super Bowl XXXII, he finished the 31-24 win over the Packers with a severe migraine that affected his vision.

The former Broncos running back was used as a decoy late in the game, but if the NFL’s current concussion protocol was in place in 1997, Davis might not be going into the Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Davis told reporters in Canton, Ohio, on Friday he thinks about his MVP performance in Super Bowl XXXII often, and it makes him wonder if he will have any long-term effects of playing running back for seven years in the NFL.

While many had feared the worst when video of Tannehill’s injury made the rounds Thursday, media reports after practice cited sources saying the 29-year-old had merely hyperextended his knee and there was no significant structural damage.

Tannehill is coming off an injury to the same knee that ended his 2016 season prematurely, breaking a string of 77 consecutive starts since his NFL debut in 2012. The QB opted against surgery to repair partially torn ligaments and had been practicing with a brace on his knee.

He could attempt to rely on rest and rehab again, but even that option likely would sideline him for at least six weeks, ESPN reported.
